Cigarette butts

claimed to be biggest sea pollutant

Environmental activists are calling for a ban on cigarette filters after they were revealed to be the most commonly found pollutant in the sea. Several groups have launched campaigns after Ocean Conservancy, an American charity, said that they have been the single most collected item during beach clean-ups around the world for 32 years. The activists want the filters to be banned but they are hoping for a total smoking ban in the longer term.
